Looking for Community in Texas? How to Find Your People Wherever You Are

Finding Your People Can Be Hard

Finding your people can feel a little harder when life gets busy.

Work, family, relationships, responsibilities, and everything else on your calendar can leave very little time for making new connections. And sometimes, even when you’re surrounded by people, you can still feel like something is missing.

Maybe you’ve moved to a new city. Maybe your friendships have changed over the years. Maybe you’re working from home and don’t get many chances to meet people outside your usual routine. Or maybe you simply want more women in your life to laugh with, learn from, and do life alongside.

Whatever your reason, wanting more community doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with the life you already have. Sometimes, you just want more connection, more fun, and more people who get you.

And community can look different for every woman. Maybe it’s a group of friends you meet for coffee, a workout class where everyone knows your name, women you connect with online, or people you meet through a local event. It could even be a group that gives you a place to celebrate the good stuff, talk through a tough week, or simply share a few laughs.

You don’t have to find one perfect group that checks every box. Your community can be made up of different people and different spaces. What matters is finding places where you can show up, connect, feel supported, and be yourself.

And the good news? Your people don’t necessarily have to live right down the street.

1. Start With Something You Already Enjoy

Making new friends as an adult can feel a little strange. When you were younger, friendships often happened naturally—you sat next to someone in class, joined the same team, or became friends through mutual friends. As an adult, it takes a little more intention. Between work, family, errands, and everything else on your to-do list, finding time to meet new people can feel like just another thing you should be doing. That’s why one of the easiest places to start is with something you already enjoy.

Love moving your body? Try a fitness, dance, yoga, or walking class. You might show up for the workout and end up chatting with the woman next to you before class even starts.

Love coffee and good conversation? Check out a local café, book club, or casual meetup. Becoming a regular can even help you turn familiar faces into new connections.

Interested in wellness, personal growth, or business? Look for workshops, networking events, or community groups that match your interests. Having something in common makes that first conversation a whole lot easier.

And you don’t have to walk in thinking, “I need to make a best friend today.” Take the pressure off. Focus on one conversation, learn someone’s name, or simply ask, “What brought you here?” Come back again, recognize familiar faces, and let the connection grow naturally.

Maybe you discover you have the same favorite workout, love the same coffee spot, or are navigating the same season of life. Connection often starts with something surprisingly simple.

And if you’re the Bold Mama (Bold Woman) thinking, “Everyone here already knows each other,” remember—you may not be the only one hoping for a friendly face.

So smile. Say hello. Ask a question.

Sometimes finding your people starts with simply showing up.

2. Don't Wait for Life to Slow Down

As busy women, we’re really good at putting ourselves last. We make time for work, family, friends, errands, and everyone who needs us—but somehow, finding an hour for ourselves is the thing that keeps getting pushed to next week. Before you know it, another month has gone by and you’re still waiting for things to calm down.

But if you’re waiting for your schedule to magically become less busy before you find community, you might be waiting a while. Instead, look for small opportunities that fit into the life you already have. Maybe it’s joining a virtual class after work, meeting a friend for a quick coffee, attending a weekend event, or finding a group you can check in with from home.

And it doesn’t have to be another obligation on your already-full calendar. The goal isn’t to add more to your plate—it’s to make room for something that fills your cup. Even 30 minutes of movement, conversation, or connection can give you a chance to step away from your usual routine and reconnect with yourself and others.

Community doesn’t have to require a huge time commitment or a perfectly organized schedule. Sometimes, you just have to make a little space for it. You deserve connection now—not someday when life finally slows down.

3. Look Beyond Your Zip Code

Here’s something we love about the way we can connect today: your community doesn’t have to be limited by your location.

Maybe you’re in El Paso. Maybe you’re in Austin, Dallas, Houston, or a smaller Texas town. Or maybe you’re in a season of life where getting out and meeting people in person isn’t always easy. Between busy schedules, family responsibilities, and distance, finding a group that truly feels like “your people” can sometimes take more effort than we have to give.

That doesn’t mean you have to miss out on connection.

Virtual communities can open the door to relationships and experiences that might not be available right in your neighborhood. A virtual women’s community can give you a place to join fitness classes, have conversations, share experiences, celebrate wins, and connect with women who understand the ups and downs of everyday life—even when you’re miles apart.

And there’s something special about being able to show up from wherever you are. You can join a class from your living room, check in with the group between errands, or connect with someone who lives across Texas but shares your interests and goals.

Sometimes, those virtual connections turn into something more. An online conversation can lead to a local meetup, a coffee date, a new workout buddy, or a genuine friendship you never expected to find.

Your zip code may determine where you live, but it doesn’t have to determine where you belong.

4. Find a Community That Fits Your Life

The right community doesn’t have to look the same for everyone. What you need from community can also change depending on the season of life you’re in.

Maybe you’re looking for more movement and accountability. Maybe you want to meet other women, make new friends, or connect with women in business. Maybe you’re craving more fun, new experiences, and reasons to get out of the house. Or maybe you’re simply looking for a place where you can show up without having to pretend you’ve got everything figured out.

The important thing is finding a community that feels right for you—not one you feel like you have to fit yourself into.

Look for people who encourage you, activities you genuinely enjoy, and a space where you can participate at your own pace. You should be able to celebrate your wins, share the messy moments, try something new, and simply be yourself.

Because belonging shouldn’t come with a list of requirements.

You shouldn’t have to become a different version of yourself to belong. The right community makes room for who you already are.

5. Give Yourself Permission to Try Something New

This can be the hardest part.

You see a new group, class, or event and immediately start wondering:

Should I go?
Will I know anyone?
What if everyone already knows each other?
What if I feel awkward?

Friend, go anyway.

You don’t have to walk into a room feeling completely confident. You don’t have to know anyone beforehand, and you don’t have to decide right away whether this is going to become “your thing.” Sometimes, you just have to be willing to take that first step and see what happens.

Give yourself permission to try something new—even if you feel a little nervous. Maybe you’ll meet a new friend. Maybe you’ll discover a new favorite activity. Maybe you’ll find a group that makes you look forward to showing up each week. Or maybe you’ll simply have a really good time and leave feeling glad you went.

And if it’s not for you? That’s okay, too. Try something else. Finding your people doesn’t always happen on the first try. It’s about putting yourself out there, staying open, and giving yourself opportunities to connect.

Because sometimes, the best things happen when you’re willing to say, “Why not?”

6. Look for Opportunities to Connect Regularly

One coffee date can be great. One event can be fun. But meaningful community usually grows when you have opportunities to connect again and again.

Think about how friendships often develop naturally. You see the same person at your weekly class, chat for a few minutes, learn a little more about each other, and then eventually find yourself saying, “Want to grab coffee sometime?” It doesn’t happen all at once. It grows through those small, repeated moments.

That could mean joining a weekly virtual fitness class, attending a monthly meetup, planning a regular girls’ night, or simply having a group of women you can check in with throughout the week. You don’t need to spend hours together every time. Sometimes, a quick conversation, a shared laugh, or seeing the same friendly faces each week is enough to start building something meaningful.

Consistency creates familiarity. Familiarity creates comfort. And comfort makes it easier to build genuine relationships.

And for busy women, consistency doesn’t have to mean adding another major commitment to your calendar. Find something that works for your schedule and gives you a reason to keep showing up. When connection becomes part of your routine instead of something you have to constantly plan, it becomes much easier to maintain.

Over time, those little moments can turn into real friendships—a friend you can call when you need encouragement, someone to celebrate a win with, a workout buddy, or a group of women who genuinely look forward to seeing you.

You don’t have to build your entire community in one day. Start with one connection, keep showing up, and give it time to grow.

Building Community Across Texas With BMCo.

Bold Mamas Co. photo

This is a big part of why we created BMCo. We wanted to create a community for women that isn’t limited by where they live, what their schedule looks like, or whether they’re able to make it to every event.

Some Bold Mamas may connect with us in person. Others may join us virtually from somewhere else in Texas. Some may come for movement and wellness, while others are looking for friendship, fun, support, networking, or simply a reason to step outside their usual routine.

And you don’t have to choose just one.

BMCo. is a place to move, connect, have fun, and support one another—wherever you are and whatever season of life you’re in. Whether you’re joining a class, meeting other women at an event, discovering a local business, or simply checking in with the community online, there are different ways to be part of it.

We’re also creating opportunities to connect with local women-owned businesses, discover new places, and bring Bold Mamas together through events and meetups across Texas.

Because community isn’t just about having people around you.

It’s about having people you can do life with.

You Don't Have to Find Your People All at Once

Maybe your next connection starts with a virtual class. Maybe it’s coffee with someone you just met, a conversation at a local event, or joining a community when you weren’t even sure you were ready.

You don’t have to know exactly where it will lead. Sometimes, you just have to take the first step.

If you’re looking for a women’s community in Texas where you can connect, move, have fun, and show up as you are, we’d love for you to check out BMCo. Whether you’re in El Paso or somewhere else in Texas, you can be part of the community wherever you are.

Ready to take that first step? Join BMCo. and get access to a community of Bold Mamas, movement, wellness, connection, and opportunities to have more fun along the way.

You don’t have to wait until life gets easier, your schedule clears up, or you feel completely ready. Make the coffee date. Try the class. Say yes to the invitation. Reach out to someone new.

Sometimes finding your people starts with simply giving yourself permission to look for them, make space for connection, and take that first little step.

You never know where it might lead.
